When there are issues or conflicts at home, the whole family hurts. At Aspen, we understand there are many factors at play when problems arise in the home and our skilled support workers are here to help.
Operating in Calgary and area, our In-Home Family Support program works to ensure that children of all ages are safe and well-nurtured in their homes. Our support team works to prevent, reduce or eliminate factors that can put the safety and wellbeing of children at risk, helping identify strengths and build the skills needed to improve communication, address problematic behaviours, manage crises and enhance overall family functioning.
Families in the program also receive customized supports to help tackle a wide range of challenges at home, including:
Families referred by Children’s Services may already have children in community placements or be at imminent risk of having their children placed in community care. The In-Home Family Support program assists these families in mitigating any concerns of Children’s Services in an effort to keep families together or shorten placements.
One of the ways we do this is through our Therapeutic Access stream of our In-Home Support Program. This 10- to 12-week program assists parents with young children in care (ages 0 to 6) in developing and using sensitive parenting skills and nurturing secure parent-child relationships. Therapeutic Coaches help prompt, cue, model and teach behaviours that help increase engagement, build structure and maintain healthy relationships. Our coaches provide two supervised visits each week, typically at a Children’s Services office.
