In everything we do, we strive to create a space of reconciliation and inclusion.
We incorporate many Indigenous practices and activities in our community programs and research and all of our staff and foster families receive education on Indigenous culture. We have also fostered strong relationships with the Awo Taan Parent Link Centre, Siksika Nation and Mahmawi-Atoskiwin, and continue to build connections with the local Indigenous community.
Some traditional activities offered as part of Aspen’s programming include sharing circles, smudging, saging, picking berries, and the inclusion of Indigenous readings. We also have a growing library of Indigenous books and resources. All of these practices, activities and resources have been thoughtfully incorporated into our work and programming by our knowledgeable Indigenous staff.
