ENMAX Continues to Give Families a Breather

Aspen is fortunate to have such a strong, authentic partnership with ENMAX in support of our Winter Breather Program. ENMAX’s community investment program is designed to create positive social change and improve the neighbourhoods we live in across Alberta. With Aspen’s Winter Breather Program set out to provide hope and sustainability to our Alberta cities throughout the long winter months, the partnership has been more than just a sponsorship for the team at ENMAX.

As a company ENMAX has identified multiple areas where they can have a positive impact on Alberta families and communities today and for years to come. One area is Powering Partners. Powering Partners supports organizations and community partners that provide aid, resources and energy assistance to Albertans facing hard times or crisis situations.

ENMAX chooses to support Aspen’s Winter Breather program because their Customer Care team sees first-hand what it’s like for their customers who are struggling to pay their utility bills. Knowing that the Winter Breather program exists provides a level of comfort for their team members; they know that when they are talking to a customer who needs help, Aspen is a trusted place that they can refer them to.

“When you have a customer who is really struggling at a difficult time in the year, it is important to have resources like Aspen Family Services available. It gives us an opportunity to extend a helping hand and helps our customers, who are also our neighbours, feel like there is still hope,” said Alicia Reid, Team Lead, Customer Care with ENMAX.

Since 2010, ENMAX has supported the Winter Breather program with cash and in-kind donations over $165,000! The Winter Breather Program is just one of the ways that ENMAX supports Aspen. They give back all year long, whether it is supporting our Community Connections program, painting group homes or adopting youth for the holidays.

ENMAX also funds Community Based Participatory Action Research initiatives to understand and address energy poverty in our city, while co-hosting energy workshops in the community to help people not only understand their utility bill, but also find ways to reduce their energy costs and make their homes more comfortable.
