- Since 1990, Aspen and Alberta Health Services Youth Addiction Program (previously AADAC) have provided support and treatment services to youth with alcohol and drug addictions.
- Aspen staff offer training and support to the home providers, as well as support for the youth attending the program.
- Support homes offer much more than a temporary home with meals and transportation; they offer recreation opportunities, life skills training and encouragement in making healthy lifestyle changes.
- In 2008, Aspen provided 567 'bed nights' to adolescents attending the 12-week program.
Aspen works closely with AHS Youth Addiction Services to provide residential support to adolescents participating in treatment for alcohol and drug addictions. Aspen's Community Support Home program provides a safe, secure living environment for adolescents while they attend the AHS Youth Addiction 12-week ACTION Program. The Community Support Home program provides support home placements for up to six youth at a time, most of whom are from communities outside of the Calgary area.
The support homes located throughout Calgary provide a temporary home, meals, support, transportation, supervision, recreational opportunities, life skills training and encouragement. Aspen is responsible for finding, screening and preparing host families who wish to generously open their doors to individuals enrolled in these programs.
