quick facts
  • Aspen's In-Home Family Support program helps families build on their strengths and provides customized support.
  • On any given month, Aspen works with at least 50 families in Calgary and the surrounding area.
  • Support and interventions are aimed at preventing, reducing or eliminating issues that may place a child or family at risk.
  • The program provides immediate and ongoing support to the whole family, not just the child.

In situations where there are conflicts and problems at home, an intervention can ensure the safety and well-being of children through expedient and flexible interventions. The Aspen In-home Family Support program has been developed to prevent, reduce, or eliminate behaviours that may place a child or family at risk.

Aspen staff work collaboratively with the family to identify strengths and to get to the root causes of the problem and identify a course of action that will promote long-term change and healthy behaviors.

A family-centered approach is used to build upon strengths and develop resiliency. The ultimate goal is to increase protective factors, such as positive communication, connection to community, and healthy family relationships, and to reduce risk factors.
