Community Group Homes
"We come from families where we are not important. But here, no matter what, we know they care about us. We care about each other and are a family; not because we have to, but because we want to."

quick facts
  • Aspen operates four group homes throughout Calgary.
  • Youth living in the group homes are between 7 to 17 years old.
  • In 2007, Aspen provided 29 youth with care in one of the four group homes.
  • 60% of the participants either returned to their family or graduated to other programs that will prepare them to live independently.

There are a number of reasons a young person may not be able to remain at home or find themselves without a roof over his or her head.

Rundle, Whitehorn and Canyon Meadows Community Group Homes provide a caring and compassionate homelike environment that facilitates healthy development. It is more than just a place to live. Residents are encouraged to identify their goals and pursue ways to achieve them through a resiliency and strength-based model. While living at a Community Group Home, youth connect to the community by attending school, accessing resources and participating in sports and leisure activities.

Banff Trail Group Home helps bridge the gap between Community Group Homes and Youth Transitions to Adulthood programs; providing an opportunity to nurture and develop self-care skills to prepare young people to begin the process of working towards independence.
