Upcoming Events
To ensure our 25th year of operation is by far our best, we’ve planned a wide variety of exceptional events. We've got a mix of old favourites, such as the Kurl for Kids funspiel, and a handful of new initiatives that are sure to excite and inspire. Read below to find out what’s coming up next.
Kurl for Kids
On March 14th, 2009, we're holding our 25th anniversary curling extravaganza. This event brings community partners, business leaders, staff and volunteers together to have some fun while raising money for Aspen's youth programs. Last year's event was a huge success, and we expect this year's to be even better.
Aspen’s Urban Street Party
On May 9th, 2009, we will be closing down a Calgary street and pulling out all the stops to celebrate Youth Week and the naming of the new apartment building which is home to young people who are participating in the Supported Independent Living program (SIL). This youth-centred event will feature a live DJ, hip hop dancing and demonstrations from some of the city's best graffiti artists and much more!
Dad and Me
This incredible day gives families a chance to spend some quality time together. Fathers and their kids work together to create a unique woodworking project and memories that will last a lifetime.
Aboriginal Open House
In honour of National Aboriginal Day, June 21st, we're holding an open house to celebrate the important work being done in aboriginal communities.
Annual General Meeting
In the fall of 2009 we will be holding our 25th anniversary Annual General Meeting. This event will be a celebration of the last 25 years of success and give us the opportunity to recognize the contributions of our partners through the HOPE Awards (Honouring Our Partners Excellence).
Diva for a Day
Every November women participating in our programs are treated to a day of relaxation and rejuvenation. This day of self-care is full of surprises and may include everything from makeovers and shopping to an evening of entertainment.
The Aspen Full Circle Event

On November 19th, we’re holding an evening of excitement and inspiration. Our Full Circle Event is a one-of-a-kind interactive evening with discussion circles led by CBC’s Jian Gomeshi and a keynote speech by Stephen Lewis, one of the world’s leading thinkers and activists in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Thought provoking discussions will be complimented by a selection of incredible food and the energy of live drum circles. As one of the premiere galas of the year, the diverse array of activities, thoughts and discussions at this event are sure to motivate, uplift and invigorate.
